Increasing agriculture field production losses at rural community farms of remote marron villages due to frequent large-scale damage are becoming more frequent due to extreme rainfall and drought events. In additionan, outdated and inapproriate farming practices, coupled with limited technical know-how in the use of agriculture equipment, tools, limited resources and increasing population have led to an increased need for food recources. With this project financed by the Australian Goverment under the Direct Aid programme, IICA in collaboration with the Agro cooperative Pina Na Kaba seeks to strenghtened maroon farmers knowledge and resilience capacity through training and the establishment of demonstration plots in the management of crop nursery, irrgation and multi cropping systems.
Objetivo General:
To enhanced maroon farmers knowledge capacity and skills in the use of climate smart agriculture technologies and to increase field production through the adoption of good agronomic practises.
Objetivos Específicos:
  1. The establishement of two (2) multi-cropping production plots under micro irrigation system and one (1) crop nursery for training and demonstration purposes to enhance maroon farmers climate resilience.
Resultados Esperados:
  1. Maroon farmers knowledge and skills strenghtened in establishing and management of crop nursery, micro irrigation and multi cropping production system.
