This project will work with five agriculture-based community groups that are established and are implementing sustainable food production systems and nature-based enterprises but need support to strengthen their activities, develop their ideas and strategies, and access the market. A member's farm will be selected to establish a demonstration plot in sustainable food production and members who need support in nature-based enterprise development will be identified. This is a collaborative project between IICA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Beltraide, and the Department of Cooperatives. It is being implemented by PACT (Protected Area Conservation Trust) with funding from the Adaptation Fund.
Objetivo General:
The project's overall objective is: To strengthen livelihoods for members of five natural-resource dependent community groups by boosting their capacity in (a) climate resilient sustainable productive food production; and (b) identifying and managing profitable nature-based solution enterprises.
Objetivos Específicos:
  1. Inception Phase and X-cutting Activities: Identify, select, and prepare target community groups for effective implementation of sustainable food production systems and nature-based enterprises, and raise public awareness about the project initiatives.
  2. Regenerative, Sustainable, Food Production System: Implement (five) models of sustainable climate-smart food production systems that regenerate ecosystems and are resilient to climate change.
  3. Sustainable Nature-Based Enterprises: Develop (five) model nature-based enterprise operations that strengthen and diversify livelihoods.
  4. Project Management/Execution: Ensure effective project management and execution.
Resultados Esperados:
  1. COMPONENT 0. Outcome 0: Target community groups selected are prepared for the effective implementation of sustainable food production systems and nature-based enterprises, and public awareness about the initiatives of the project was raised.
  2. COMPONENT 1. Outcome 1: The selected community groups have implemented models of sustainable climate-smart food production systems that regenerate ecosystems and are resilient to climate change.
  3. COMPONENT 2. Outcome 2. The selected community groups have developed model nature-based enterprise operations that strengthen and develop diverse livelihoods.
  4. COMPONENT 3. Outcome 3: The project team has effectively managed and executed the project.
