This initiative is a pilot project that aims to drive compliance with national food safety standards and regulations through better targeting of official resources to facilitate improved public health outcomes and trade opportunities. It will pilot, test, assess, and learn how the voluntary Third-Party Assurance (vTPA) approach, as outlined in the draft Codex guidelines, works in practice when implemented by government authorities in Belize and Honduras
Objetivo General:
Implement the pilot project for the use of the Third Party Assurance Program (TPA) in Central America (Belize and Honduras) to improve food safety, public health, food, and trade.
Objetivos Específicos:
  1. To assess the efectiveness of the vTPA approach in selected countries
Resultados Esperados:
  1. Increased awareness of food safety regulators on the application of vTPA approaches in other countries
  2. Increased awareness of regulatory authorities on how to assess and use data/information generated by vTPA programmes in Belize and Honduras
  3. Improved food safety compliance of FBOs in selected value chains based on the use of a voluntary food safety capacity building programme in Belize
  4. Efficient managment, monitoring and evaluation implemented
