Descripción
The process of building an approach or model requires phased process indicative of the evolving growth and maturity to achieve the output. This is the second phase in development this methodology. The 2018 & 2019 CCNRMPR projects focused on 3D and virtual design and building of climate smart food production systems in the vulnerable rural community of Matelot. This project will build on these interventions and experiences in a more integrated and holistic manner with the aim of developing an integrated Knowledge-to-action approach for building agricultural resilience. Such an approach, which involves 3 main actions: i. validating the climate smart production system (aquaponics) established under the Matelot Project ii. integrating a continuous youth-based innovation mechanism into the Matelot Model to facilitate farm-level innovations and business opportunities and iii. building the capacity of MALF to assess and map farm climate related vulnerability and develop early warning systems to inform coordination mechanisms to implement on-farm action. These lessons need to be captured and systematized into information and knowledge to inform policy and the design of practical and appropriate interventions for resilient, low carbon agriculture that is stakeholder-driven, particularly in vulnerable communities. This vision and project activities are aligned with national, regional and global strategies, conventional and agreements and policies such as the SDGs and the National climate change policy of Trinidad and Tobago.
