The Government of Belize, with financing from IFAD and the GCF embarked on a 6 year programme, Resilient Rural Belize, which aims to minimize the impacts of climatic and economic events on smallholder farmers while supporting sustainable market access for their produce. The Strengthening of POs will focus on providing the required technical, social and organizational knwledge to improve management, operational and overall performance of the main actors in the selected value chains.
Objetivo General:
To introduce climate resilient agricultural practices that will allow smallholder farmers to have a sustanable production process and improved market access for their produce, even under the stress of climate change and extreme climatic events; therefore, increasing their economic, social and environmental resilience
Objetivos Específicos:
  1. To develop a six-month training curriculum in business management with specific focus on the sustainability of the Producers Organizations (POs) as a businness. The PO gaining the capacity to develop strategic planning, marketing, finance management, record keeping and reporting following governance rules and procedures.
  2. To organize and implement the developed training curriculum for thirty-six (36) young male and female farmers (50%) from the Programme's beneficiary communities.
Resultados Esperados:
  1. 18 POs benefitted from the placement of trained young managers within their respective organizations.
  2. Training Curriculum developed and approved by RRB, focused on business administration, basic finances, communication and marketing for the young men and women selected for the training program.
  3. Young men and women from the beneficiary POs enhanced their knowledge and abilities by completing the six-month training curriculum.
