This cooperative agreement aims to expand previous efforts to help farms and facilities understand and implement the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations, ensuring compliance with U.S. food safety standards. The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) will leverage its extensive network of trained professionals to provide outreach and capacity-building activities. By identifying the most suitable locations and participants, IICA will align its initiatives with ongoing training programs from other organizations. Collaborating with governments, academia, and private industry, the project will employ innovative learning techniques and robust evaluations to enhance sustainable knowledge and improve FSMA implementation. This initiative builds on the success of previous agreements between the FDA and IICA, further strengthening food safety programs for exporters in the region.
