Descripción
Food security is increasingly a matter of global concern, and in the CARICOM region, there is a clear strategy to reduce food importation by 25% by 2025. In response to this concern, the European Union has invested funds to improve food production and the resilience of food systems. This investment aims to benefit the most vulnerable countries and groups in the Caribbean region by addressing the most pressing bottlenecks to achieve a sustainable solution to food and nutrition security. The strategy includes sustainable and climate-smart production processes for locally produced food, efficient and reliable regional distribution mechanisms, healthy consumption patterns, and resilient social protection structures.
Objetivo General:
To improve food processing capabilities and increase regional distribution by addressing Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) barriers. This includes solutions to intra-regional trade of agricultural and fisheries products, with a focus on traceability and circular economy processes.
