Descripción
Abaco was the largest produce and poultry producer in the country before Hurricane Dorian struck. This island supplied 100% of the Abaco market with tomatoes and sweet pepper and 60% of the New Providence Market. The idea for Abaco is to build a demonstration climate smart integrated farm system incorporating layer chickens and a shade house for the production of seedlings and planting material for farmers to recharge their farms. Grand Bahama would also have a demonstration climate smart shade house with self-sufficient energy capacity at one of the local high schools. Grand Bahama has a strong agriculture programme at both of the junior and senior high school level.
