Descripción
The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Jamaica focused its actions on the promotion of biofortified crops, the bioeconomy and support for agriculture. This led to the introduction and development of biofortified crop varieties for production and consumption, as part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) regional strategy; it also partnered with Jamaica 4-H Clubs, College of Agriculture, Science and Education, Northern Caribbean University and Ebony Park Heart Academy to demonstrate bioeconomy applications. On the other hand, a donation of vegetable and fruit seeds was made for recovery from tropical storms, which benefited more than 100,000 farmers. Finally, in support of agriculture, the Institute prepared a proposal that improved the cocoa value chain.
