The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Guyana made efforts to improve sanitary surveillance and pest care plans, which made it possible to launch the Carambola Fly Surveillance project, which benefits not only the country, but also the interests of Guyana, Brazil and Suriname. increasing their level of knowledge about this pest. Through the FAO-IICA partnership, climate change mitigation and adaptation practices were promoted within flood-prone farming communities. On the other hand, with an initial support from CARICOM, a regional policy on the import of animals and animal products was developed to improve the protection of transboundary zoonotic diseases, in addition to the development of biofortified rice and a COVID-19 Agri-Food Action Plan.
Objetivo General:
IICA's purpose in Guyana is to be a partner of choice in the modernization of the agricultural sector by executing projects with national and external funds.
