Descripción
The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Antigua and Barbuda promoted agricultural production, climate actions and agri-food digitalization. Together with public and private actors, government agencies, and resources from the COVID-19 Special Fund, the Institute provided inputs, irrigation supplies, and agricultural materials, boosting the production of small farmers. In the same way, it provided support during the renovation of the agricultural sector in the face of the recovery after hurricanes Irma, Maria and Dorian. IICA fostered climate adaptation resilience to address climate risks with the export of vetiver grass seedlings. Finally, in terms of agri-food digitalization, it introduced a technological component aimed at improving beehive management planning programs of local beekeepers.
Objetivo General:
IICA's purpose in Antigua and Barbuda is to continue to offer technical support to organizations, SMEs and other companies linked to agriculture and rural development through a collaborative effort with all stakeholders to address the challenges that hinder our agricultural sector.
