The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Belize enhanced capabilities to tackle poultry diseases and implemented biosecurity measures. It developed the 2019-2024 National Beekeeping Strategy and supported the National Agricultural Census. IICA introduced biofortified crops, established germplasm banks, and promoted sustainable agricultural communities. It also joined a campaign for healthy food consumption, provided vegetable seeds to schools, and developed a decision-making platform for the Caribbean.
Objetivo General:
The purpose of the IICA in Belize is to continue being a modern and efficient institution capable of mobilizing available knowledge in the region and around the world with the aim of achieving a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable agriculture that takes advantage of opportunities to contribute to economic growth and development, and to promote greater rural well-being and sustainable management of its natural capital.
